Frequently asked questions

Is my audio uploaded?

No. The audio is processed in your browser, on your device, and never sent anywhere.

Which formats can it read?

MP3, WAV, M4A / AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus, WebM and the sound of MP4, MOV and MKV videos.

Which format should I choose?

MP3 plays everywhere. M4A is smaller at the same quality and is what iPhones use. WAV and FLAC are lossless: WAV for editing, FLAC for archiving at about half the size. OGG / Opus is the smallest for speech.

Does converting MP3 to WAV improve the quality?

No. It makes the file lossless from now on (no further loss when you edit it), but it cannot bring back what MP3 compression removed.

Is there a limit?

No fixed limit. Very long files (several hours) may not fit in a phone's memory.
