CSV to Excel converts a CSV file into a real Excel workbook (.xlsx), and an Excel sheet back into CSV. The separator (comma, semicolon, tab) and the text encoding are detected, numbers become numbers you can calculate with, and codes with leading zeros stay as text. Everything runs in your browser.
How to convert
- Drop a CSV (to get Excel) or an .xlsx file (to get CSV) on the page.
- Check the preview of the first rows.
- Click Download Excel or Download CSV. For a workbook with several sheets, pick the sheet first.
What is handled for you
| Problem with opening a CSV directly | Here |
|---|---|
| Everything in one column (semicolon files) | Separator detected |
| Accents shown as é | UTF-8 and Windows encodings detected |
| 007 becomes 7 | Codes stay text |
| 1,234.50 stored as text | Stored as a number |
