EPUB to PDF Converter

Convert a DRM-free EPUB ebook to PDF in your browser. Choose A5, 6x9 in, A4 or Letter and the text size; styles and images kept. Free, no upload.

Runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded. How it works

EPUB to PDF turns a DRM-free EPUB ebook into a PDF. You choose the page size, the text size and the margins. The book keeps its own styles, headings, images and tables, each chapter starts on a new page, and the text is real, selectable text with the fonts embedded. Everything runs in your browser, so your book is never uploaded.

How to convert EPUB to PDF

  1. Click Choose an EPUB book or drop the .epub file on the page. The title, author and number of chapter files are shown.
  2. Pick the Page size, Text size and Margins. Untick Cover as the first page if you do not want the cover picture.
  3. Click Convert to PDF. The PDF is saved with the same name as the book.

Which page size to pick

  • A5 is about the size of a paperback page. It fits well on a phone or tablet screen and prints two to a sheet of A4.
  • 6 × 9 in is a standard trade paperback size, handy if you want a proof copy that looks like a printed book.
  • A4 and US Letter are for printing on a normal printer. Pick 12 or 13 pt text so lines do not get too long.

Larger text sizes make more pages; smaller ones fit more on each page. Wide margins leave room for notes in the margin of a printout.

EPUB 2, EPUB 3 and DRM

Both EPUB 2 and EPUB 3 books can be converted, as long as they are DRM-free. Books with DRM are encrypted, so their pages cannot be read without the store’s own reading app. This includes Kindle books (AZW, KFX) and EPUBs with Adobe DRM from many ebook stores. The tool tells you when a book is protected; it does not remove DRM.

Fonts that a publisher only scrambled to stop copying, which many DRM-free books do, are not DRM and do not stop the conversion.

What to expect

  • Links inside the book, such as a clickable table of contents or links to footnotes, are not clickable in the PDF.
  • Very long books take a little longer, as every chapter is laid out on your device.
  • Going the other way? PDF to EPUB makes a reflowable ebook from a PDF.
  • Combine the PDF with other documents using Merge PDF, or take only some chapters with Split PDF.
  • Make the file smaller for e-mail with Compress PDF.
  • Need page numbers on a printout? Add them with Add Page Numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert a Kindle book or a book bought from a store?

Only if it is a DRM-free EPUB. Books protected with DRM, such as Kindle books or EPUBs with Adobe DRM, are encrypted and cannot be read by this tool. Many publishers, public domain libraries and authors sell or give away DRM-free EPUBs.

Is the text in the PDF selectable?

Yes. The text is real vector text with the fonts embedded, so you can select, copy and search it, and it stays sharp at any zoom and in print.

Which page size should I choose?

A5 reads well on phones and tablets and prints as a small book. 6 × 9 in is a common paperback size. A4 and US Letter suit printing on a home or office printer, ideally with a larger text size.

Are the book's fonts and styles kept?

The book's own styles, headings, images and tables are kept. Book fonts are mapped to open fonts with the same letter widths, so the text fits the same way even if the exact design of the letters differs a little.

Do the links in the book work in the PDF?

No. Links, such as a clickable table of contents or footnote links, are not clickable in the PDF. The text of the contents page and the notes is still there.

Is my book uploaded?

No. The EPUB is unpacked and the PDF is made in your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
