Audio Noise Reducer cleans up voice recordings, interviews, lectures and podcast episodes, so voices stand out from fans, hum and street noise. It runs in your browser, so recordings of other people stay on your device.
Typical recordings and what to choose
| Recording | Strength | Make the voice louder |
|---|---|---|

| Voice-over with a little hiss | Light | Off if the level is already right |
| Phone voice memo in a car | Strong | On |
How to clean up a recording
- Choose the recording, or a video whose sound needs cleaning.
- Choose the strength from the table above.
- Click Remove noise and listen to the preview, both to pauses and to speech.
- If the voice sounds thin or the ends of words are swallowed, choose a lighter strength and run it again.
- Download as WAV if you will edit it further, or as MP3 to share it.
What it can and cannot do
It works best on steady noise behind a single voice: fans, hum from a power supply, air conditioning, traffic, rain, keyboard clicks. Changing noise such as street sounds is reduced well too, because the network decides every 10 milliseconds what is voice and what is not.
It is made for speech. Music, singing with instruments and sound effects are treated as noise and get damaged, so use it only on voices. Recordings that are distorted because they were too loud cannot be repaired, and a speaker very far from the microphone stays distant, only clearer.
After cleaning
- Transcribe the cleaned recording with Audio to Text: less noise means fewer errors.
- Cut away the start and end with the Audio Cutter.
- To make a quiet recording even louder, use the Volume Booster.
- To shrink it for email, use the Audio Compressor.
