Compress Image to 100 KB

Make a photo smaller than 100 KB, or any size limit you set, for forms and applications. Runs in your browser, free, and the photo is never uploaded.

Runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded. How it works

Compress Image to 100 KB shrinks a photo until it fits under a size limit, right in your browser. Job portals, government forms, exam registrations and visa applications often reject photos above 100 KB, 50 KB or 20 KB; this gets you under the limit with the best quality that fits.

Common upload limits

Where Typical limit
Job and exam application photos 20–100 KB
Signature images 10–50 KB
Profile pictures on forums and older sites 100–500 KB
Email-friendly photos 200–500 KB

Change the number in Max size per image (KB) to match your form. Several photos can be compressed at once; each one is fitted separately.

Tips

  • Crop away empty background first; less picture means more quality within the same size.
  • If the form asks for a minimum size in pixels too, check the result shown next to each file.

Frequently asked questions

How does it get the image under 100 KB?

It tries lower JPG quality first and only reduces the image's width and height if quality alone is not enough. It picks the highest quality that fits, so the photo looks as good as possible within the limit.

Can I use a different limit, like 50 KB or 200 KB?

Yes. Type any number into the Max size field. The result is never larger than that, counting 1 KB as 1024 bytes, which is how most upload forms measure it.

What if the form also needs exact dimensions?

Set the dimensions first with Resize Image, then compress the result here. Forms for passports and visas often ask for both.

What happens to PNG images?

PNG cannot be compressed to an exact size, so PNG images are saved as JPG, or as WebP if they have transparency.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Your photo, which for applications is often an ID or passport picture, is processed in your browser and never leaves your device.
