Pixelate Faces in a Photo

Pixelate faces in a photo automatically with a mosaic effect, in your browser. Set the block size, keep chosen faces, save full size. Nothing uploaded.

Runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded. How it works

This page opens with Hide with set to Pixelate (mosaic): drop a photo and every face the AI detector finds is covered with large square blocks, the classic censoring look. Adjust the block size, leave chosen faces visible, and save the photo at full resolution. Everything runs in your browser and the photo is never uploaded.

Pixelate faces in three steps

  1. Click Choose a photo. Faces are found and pixelated straight away.
  2. Move Strength to change the block size, and pick an Oval or Rectangle shape.
  3. Click a face to keep it clear, drag to pixelate anything else, then click Download.

When pixelation is the right choice

Situation Why pixelate
Street, event and protest photos Shows clearly that faces were hidden on purpose
Screenshots of video calls and chats Hides people’s faces while the layout stays readable
Photos for reports, claims or evidence A recognisable, deliberate censor mark
Photos of other people’s children Hides them before you post. Use a high Strength

Check before you share

The detector can miss faces that are very small, in profile, turned away or partly covered. Look over the whole photo and drag a box over any face it missed. Location and camera data from the original are not copied into the saved file.

Frequently asked questions

Pixelate or blur: which hides a face better?

Both hide a face well at a high Strength. Pixelation makes it obvious that the face was censored, which is often what you want for news, evidence and documents. For complete cover, choose Solid colour or Emoji instead.

How do I make the pixels bigger?

Move the Strength slider up. Larger blocks hide more detail; small blocks can leave a face partly recognisable.

Can I pixelate something other than a face?

Yes. Drag a box on the photo to pixelate any area, such as a name tag, a screen or a number plate.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Faces are found and pixelated in your browser, on your device.
