Video Cutter

Cut a video online in your browser: keep the part between a start and end time and download it. No watermark, no sign-up, nothing uploaded.

Runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded. How it works

Video Cutter cuts out the part of a video between two times and saves it as a new file. Use it to pull a highlight out of a game recording, keep one answer from a long interview, or remove the end of a clip. It works on MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV and runs in your browser, so long private recordings such as meetings or family videos never leave your computer.

A game or stream recording The highlight
A lecture or meeting One topic or question
A phone video The part without the shaking start
A screen recording The steps, without setup

Cutting clips out of a long recording

Long recordings are where a cutter saves the most time. A two-hour stream or a one-hour webinar is too large to send, but the three minutes that matter are not.

  1. Open the recording. The player above the times lets you scrub through it.
  2. Find the start of the moment, pause, and click Use current position next to Start.
  3. Play on to the end of the moment and click Use current position next to End.
  4. Click Trim video, check the clip and download it.
  5. For the next moment, just set new times and trim again. You do not need to open the file a second time.

Write down the times while you watch if there are many clips. Typing “42:10” and “45:30” is faster than scrubbing back each time.

Common problems

The video does not open. iPhone videos are often HEVC. Chrome and Edge on most recent computers can read them, and so can Safari; some other browsers cannot. Opening the page in one of those usually fixes it.

The clip starts a moment too early or late. Type a small correction, for example change 3:12 to 3:12.5. Times accept tenths of a second.

The clip is still too big to send. Cutting keeps the original quality. Run the clip through Video Compressor to fit a limit such as 10 MB for Discord.

There is noise or talking you don’t want. Tick Remove sound for a silent clip.

The result is an MP4 that plays on any phone, computer or site, with no watermark.

Frequently asked questions

Can I cut several parts out?

One part at a time: cut the first clip, download it, then set new times for the next one.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in a recent mobile browser. Long or high-resolution videos are faster on a computer.

Is the video uploaded?

No. The file is processed in your browser, on your device, and never sent anywhere.

Can I cut out a part in the middle and join the rest?

Not in one step. Cut the part before and the part after as two clips. Joining them needs a video editor; most phones and computers include a free one.

How long does cutting take?

Only the part you keep is processed, so a 30-second clip from a two-hour recording is usually done in seconds on a recent computer. Keep the tab open until it finishes.
