Online Screen Recorder

Record your screen, a window or a browser tab with your microphone and tab sound. No time limit, no watermark, no install. Saved on your device.

Runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded. How it works

0:00.0

Your browser asks which screen, window or tab to share. The recording stays on your device.

Screen Recorder records your whole screen, one window or one browser tab, with your microphone and the sound of the tab, straight from the browser. There is no app to install, no time limit and no watermark. The video stays on your device, and you save it as MP4 or WebM depending on your browser. It works on desktop computers; phones do not allow screen recording from a web page.

How to record your screen

  1. Choose the options: Record my microphone, Record the sound of the tab or screen, the Quality, and whether you want a 3-second countdown.
  2. Click Start recording. Your browser asks what to share: a tab, a window or your entire screen. Pick one and click Share.
  3. If you chose the microphone, allow access when asked. If you refuse, the recording continues without it.
  4. Use Pause and Resume to skip parts you do not want.
  5. Click Stop, or Stop sharing in the browser bar. Watch the result, then click Download.

Quality settings

Quality Bitrate Use it for
High (for tutorials) 8 Mbit/s Small text, code and detailed screens
Normal 4 Mbit/s Most recordings and demos
Small file 2 Mbit/s Long recordings, sending by email or chat

Normal fills roughly 30 MB per minute, Small file about half that. The size also depends on how much moves on the screen.

Which browser to use

  • Chrome and Edge can record tab sound and, on Windows, the sound of the whole screen. Recent versions save MP4.
  • Safari on a Mac saves MP4 but does not share screen sound. The microphone works.
  • Firefox records the screen and the microphone, and saves WebM.

Common problems

  • No sound from a video or call: on a Mac, sharing the entire screen never includes system sound. Choose Chrome tab in the share dialog and leave Also share tab audio on, then play the sound in that tab.
  • Sound on Windows: when sharing the entire screen, tick Also share system audio in the dialog.
  • Echo in the recording: use headphones, so the microphone does not pick up the speakers.
  • Recording stopped by itself: closing the shared window or tab ends the sharing, and the recording with it.
  • Need MP4 but got WebM: convert the file with Video Converter.
  • The file is too large: shrink it with Video Compressor, or cut the start and end with Trim Video.
  • Only need your voice? Use the Voice Recorder.

Private by design

Your screen is recorded on your own device and the video is never uploaded. Only you decide what to share and where the file goes. See how it works.

Frequently asked questions

Can I record my screen on a phone?

No. Android and iPhone browsers do not let a web page record the screen. Use the phone's built-in screen recording instead: in Control Center on an iPhone, or in Quick Settings on most Android phones.

Is there a time limit or a watermark?

Neither. You can record for as long as your device has free memory, and the video is saved without a watermark or logo.

Will the video be MP4 or WebM?

MP4 in browsers that can record it, such as recent Chrome and Edge, and Safari. Other browsers, such as Firefox, record WebM. The result shows which one you got, with a link to Video Converter if you need MP4.

Why is there no sound from my computer in the recording?

Browsers only share sound in some cases. In Chrome and Edge, choose a Chrome tab and leave Also share tab audio on. Sharing the entire screen includes system sound on Windows, but not on a Mac. Firefox and Safari do not share screen sound at all.

How do I stop the recording?

Click Stop on this page, or Stop sharing in the bar your browser shows. Both end the recording and show the video.

Is my recording uploaded?

No. The screen is recorded by your browser and the video stays on your device until you download it. Nothing is sent to a server.
