Video Compressor

Compress MP4, MOV and WebM videos in your browser: pick a size like 20 MB for Discord or 50% smaller. No sign-up, no watermark, no upload.

Runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded. How it works

Video Compressor makes a video file smaller so it fits where you need it: under Discord’s 20 MB limit, into an email, or onto a full phone. It runs in your browser and uses your device’s own video encoder, so the video is never uploaded, there is no sign-up and no watermark.

How to compress a video

  1. Click Choose a video or drop an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV file on the page.
  2. Pick how small: 30%, 50% or 70% smaller, or a size such as Under 20 MB.
  3. Click Compress video, play the result to check it, then Download video.

Which setting to use

You want to Pick
Send on Discord (free accounts) Under 20 MB, or open Compress Video for Discord
Older chat apps and forums with a 10 MB cap Under 10 MB
Attach to an email Under 25 MB
Save space, keep it looking the same 30% or 50% smaller
Send a long video quickly 70% smaller, or 720p
Share a screen recording 50% smaller (screen content compresses well)

Good to know

  • The output is MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound, which plays on every phone, computer and app.
  • Lowering the resolution (1080p, 720p, 480p) gives a cleaner picture than squeezing a large frame into very few bits; for small targets this happens automatically.
  • Remove sound saves a little more space, for clips where audio is not needed.

Private by design

Your video is processed on your own device and never uploaded. See how it works.

Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video is compressed by your browser's own video encoder, on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere, so private or work videos stay with you.

How do I compress a video for Discord?

Choose the video, pick Under 20 MB (Discord), the limit for free accounts, and click Compress video. If the first try comes out a little too big, it is redone automatically at a lower bitrate so the file stays under the limit.

Is there a file size limit or a watermark?

There is no watermark, no sign-up and no daily limit. Very large videos are limited only by your device; in Chrome and Edge the result is written to temporary storage on disk, so even long videos do not need much memory.

Which formats work?

MP4, MOV (including iPhone videos), WebM and MKV are read. The result is an MP4 (H.264 and AAC), which plays everywhere; browsers that cannot make MP4 save WebM instead.

My iPhone video does not open. Why?

iPhones record in HEVC (H.265). Chrome and Edge on most recent computers, and Safari, can read it; some other browsers cannot. Open the page in one of those, or set the iPhone camera to Most Compatible.

Will the quality drop?

A smaller file always means less detail, but the encoder spends the bits where they matter. 30% or 50% smaller usually looks the same on a phone; for very small targets the resolution is lowered too, which looks better than a blocky full-size video.

How long does it take?

Usually a few seconds per minute of video on a recent computer, because the browser uses the graphics chip. Phones and older computers are slower. Keep the tab open until it is done.
