See and remove EXIF metadata such as GPS location, camera and date from JPG, PNG and WebP photos. No quality loss, free, and photos are never uploaded.
Runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded. How it works
Remove
Remove EXIF Data shows you the hidden information inside your photos, such as the GPS location, camera and date, and removes it before you share them. The image itself is not re-compressed, so there is no quality loss.
How to remove EXIF data
Click Choose photos or drop JPG, PNG or WebP files onto the page. Each photo shows what metadata it contains; location data is highlighted.
Choose All metadata or Location only.
Click Remove metadata. The cleaned photos download as photo-no-metadata.jpg, or in a ZIP file if there are several.

Some iPhone and Android JPGs store an extra HDR layer at the end of the file. It is removed too, because it can carry its own metadata; the photo then shows as a normal (non-HDR) image.
Private by design
Your photos are read and cleaned on your own device and never uploaded. See how it works to check this yourself with your browser’s developer tools.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Metadata is read and removed by your own browser. Your photos never leave your device, which is the point when you are protecting your privacy.
What is EXIF data?
EXIF is information your camera or phone stores inside a photo, such as the date and time, camera model, settings and often the exact GPS location where it was taken. Anyone who gets the original file can read it.
Does removing metadata reduce the quality?
No. The image data is copied byte for byte; only the metadata blocks are removed. The photo looks exactly the same and usually gets a few kilobytes smaller.
Will my photo be rotated the wrong way afterwards?
No. If a photo needs rotating to display correctly, a tiny EXIF block with only the rotation setting is kept. Everything else is removed.
What does Location only remove?
The GPS coordinates in EXIF, plus XMP and IPTC blocks, which can also contain coordinates or place names. Camera model, date and settings are kept.
Do social media sites remove EXIF?
Most large platforms strip location data from public posts, but many other routes keep it, for example email, messaging apps that send the original file, cloud links, forums and online marketplaces. Removing it yourself works everywhere.
Can I remove metadata from HEIC photos?
Not directly. Convert them with HEIC to JPG instead; the JPG files it creates contain no metadata.
