Remove
Remove Location from Photos deletes the GPS coordinates hidden in your photos, so people you share them with cannot see where they were taken. Everything else, such as the date and camera details, stays in the file, and the image itself is not changed.
Why the location matters
Phones save the exact GPS position in most photos. When you send the original file by email, in a messaging app as a “document”, in a cloud link, on a marketplace listing or a forum, anyone who downloads it can read that position, often accurate to a few metres, for example your home address.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my photo contains a location?
Add it to this page. If the photo has GPS coordinates or place names, they are shown highlighted next to the file before you remove anything.
What exactly is removed?
GPS coordinates from the EXIF data, plus XMP and IPTC blocks, which can also contain coordinates or place names such as city and country. The camera model, date and settings stay.
How do I stop my phone adding the location?
On iPhone, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Camera and choose Never. On Android, open the Camera app settings and turn off location tags or Save location. Photos already taken keep their location until you remove it.
Is the photo quality affected?
No. Only the location data is removed; the image data is copied unchanged.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The location is removed by your browser, on your device.
