Compress Video to 10 MB

Shrink a video under 10 MB in your browser for chat apps, forms and forums with a 10 MB limit. The size is checked and redone if needed. Free, nothing uploaded.

Runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded. How it works

Compress Video to 10 MB shrinks a clip so it fits any upload form, forum or app with a 10 MB limit. Drop the video, click Compress video, and the result is guaranteed to stay under 10 MB: the size is checked after compressing and the video is redone at a lower bitrate if needed.

What to expect at 10 MB

Video length Typical result
Up to 30 seconds Sharp at 1080p or 720p
About 1 minute Good at 720p
2–3 minutes Soft; 480p is chosen automatically
Longer Trim it first, or use a larger size

Tips

  • Gameplay and fast motion need more data than talking or screen recordings; shorter clips look better.
  • Remove sound if the clip does not need it: the saved space goes to the picture.
  • Need a different limit? Pick Under 8 MB, 20 MB or 25 MB, or type your own size. For Discord, see Compress Video for Discord.

Frequently asked questions

Where is 10 MB the limit?

Many upload forms, support portals, forums and older chat apps cap attachments at 10 MB. Discord used to as well; free Discord accounts can now send 20 MB, so for Discord use Compress Video for Discord instead.

Will it really be under 10 MB?

Yes. The bitrate is worked out from the length of the video; if the result is still above 10 MB, it is compressed again with a lower bitrate before you can download it. 10 MB is counted as 10,000,000 bytes, so the file fits whichever way a site counts.

How long can the video be?

Any length works, but 10 MB is little for a long video. Up to about a minute looks good at 720p; for several minutes the picture gets soft, so trim the clip first or pick a larger size.

Is the video uploaded?

No. It is compressed on your device, in your browser.
