Slow Motion Video slows down any clip to 0.75×, 0.5× or 0.25× of its speed, right in your browser. It opens at half speed, the most popular setting for sport, dance and pets. The sound stays at normal pitch, or you can make it deep like a slowed-down tape, or remove it. Your video is never uploaded.
How to make a slow motion video
- Choose a video: MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV.
- The Speed is set to 0.5×. Change it to 0.75× or 0.25× if you like. The new length appears below.
- Choose the Sound: normal pitch, deep tape-style, or removed.
- Choose the Frame rate. 30 fps is fine for most clips; 60 fps keeps more of the smoothness of high-frame-rate footage.
- Click Change speed, then download.
Which slow motion speed
| Speed | Length of a 10 s clip | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 0.75× | 13.3 s | A subtle, dreamy feel; following fast speech or steps |
| 0.5× | 20 s | Sport, dance, pets, kids, a jump into the pool |
| 0.25× | 40 s | A splash, a golf or tennis swing, a dramatic moment |
Getting smooth slow motion
Slowing down shows the same frames for longer; it does not create new ones. How smooth the result looks depends on how the clip was filmed:
- Phone slow-motion mode records at a high frame rate such as 120 or 240 fps, so those clips stay smoother when slowed down.
- 60 fps video slows to 0.5× smoothly.
- Normal 30 fps video looks fine at 0.75×; at 0.5× and below, motion becomes visibly stepped.
When you can plan ahead, switch your camera to 60 fps or slow motion before filming the moment.
Slow motion for sport and coaching
Slow motion makes technique visible: a golf swing, a tennis serve, a running stride or a jump. Film side-on, steady, and with good light, then slow the clip to 0.25×. Cut it to just the movement with the Video Cutter first, so the result is short and easy to replay.

Slower clips are longer and larger. Shrink them with the Video Compressor, or turn a short moment into a looping GIF with Video to GIF. To go the other way, see Speed Up Video.
